Training facilities have been in an 8-room accommodation since August 2005. The building is in a fenced house of its own, in a quiet area of Ikeja, Lagos State. The outside space, within the fence is often used for large group seminars for crowds of over 250 people.
Each classroom can take at least 25 people at once. This is specially designed to be so, to ensure effective training.
Professional and practical oriented trainers, who enjoy their job are heads of all departments.
The centre provides all practical training materials and this encourages trainees to be consistent in school. Other training materials such as handouts, stationery, etc are provided where necessary.
Vocational Training is accompanied with Entrepreneurship Training, covering topics such as – Setting goals, Time management, Financial management, Capacity building, Operations management, Basic financial accounting, Marketing skills, etc.
Success records are documented, because trainees currently fill Alumnus Evaluation Forms, as an internal assessment method to verify that training is effective.
The centre is easily accessible. The centre is open from 8am – 7 pm, Mondays –Saturdays. We also have a 24hours literate security service. The centre can be visited anytime for assessment.
All records books, photographs, contacts of old students and enquiries are readily available for inspection.
To date, the centre has trained more than 1000 people, who include people from all works of life, housewives, early retirees, married, unemployed graduates, youths, single, widowed, mainly unemployed, etc. There is a record of more than 90% success, in that many trainees come back with testimonies of a transformed life. Some of their testimonies are documented and reading them is quiet emotional.
Foundation for Skills Development has the capacity to train as many as are willing to start a business of their own.
