Held to kick start a series of Entrepreneurship Enlightenment Seminars for women in micro, small and medium sized businesses. The objective of the seminar was to inspire the next generation of female entrepreneurs who owned small businesses. Training covers both business management skills and practical vocational training. Our center is housed on 2 plots of land and has 8 training rooms with capacity to train 200 people at a time. The vision of the center is to empower about 5000 people yearly with skills that will transform their lives, cause them to be self employed and this in turn will take at least 20,000 people OFF the streets. This is because each person trained, subsequently becomes an employer of other people. This multiplier effect has been observed in those that have been trained. The Summit exposed paricipants to innovations, inventions, opportunities and successes of entrepreneurship.   The President of the United States of America in addressing the delegates emphasized that entrepreneurship was more successful in bringing about progress and development where policy and diplomacy had failed especially in developed nations and particularly in the Muslim countries. Top US government officials in attendance included President Obama, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, Secretary of State for Commerce Gary Locke and many others.   Skye Bank and the US Embassy made the attendance possible for Foundation for Skills Development. The Ambassador was received by Mrs Omowale Ogunrinde, partners of the project, alumni and trainees of the centre. Mrs Omowale Ogunrinde is a beneficiary of the US Mission’s IVLP Program. The centre had also benefitted from the US Mission’s SSH Project which supported the centre in the setting up of a Furniture Craft training unit in the year 2008.
